It was quick and they weren't really head to head racing for long ( no weaving through traffic reckless ect.) so I wouldn't think it would be that much fallout but just think if there was an accident or something it would be disastrous PR for them right before the launch of the car.

I remember back in 07 I was riding in a preproduction GTR (I think the only one in America at the time) with someone from Nissan and we blew past some guys in a Z showing off a bit only to get pulled over by a park ranger and ticketed. Nothing happened from it to my knowledge other than some gossip within the company. but yeah with cell phones everywhere gotta ride that line of hyping the car without doing anything to bring bad attention to the brand

Yeah, it really wasn't. I appreciate that the Z has plenty of accelerative capability but this is still a pretty random on-the-road event and we basically already knew the car would be quick.

Funny how you rarely see that on forums. Both aren't aren't even intended to do anything special in 1/4 mile races.

At least we know the potential of the powertrain since it's not exactly new. On paper Nissan will just aim to make it faster than the outgoing 370Z but in real world testing I'm sure it will be much faster, sort of what like MKV Supra owners discovered.

I think the best stock 370z off the top of my head was like high 12's? but most low 13's

if the new Z can do 12.5 for the manual and maybe 12.3-12.2 for the 9AT I would be content with that since its not a straight line car

12.2 at peak is definitely good. Last I checked the Supra does it in 12.1 seconds and it's more of a straight line car. Coming that close is a clear win for Nissan especially when combined with the lower MSRP.
