BMW Issues Recall For Toyota Supra Over Braking Concerns

It's always going to be weird reading this but BMW has issued a recall for the Supra because of braking concerns. Specifically, engine management software could cause the loss of braking assist at startup. That means drivers won't have any power assistance when they hit the brake

13,014 Supras built between February 2019 and June 2021 are affected by the recall.

Along with the Supra the recall affects certain 2020 M340i, M340i xDrive, 540i, 540i xDrive, X3 M40i, 2020-2021 X4 M40i, 745Le xDrive, and 2019-2021 Z4 M40i vehicles.

So when someone needs to fix their Supra for something like this do they go to Toyota or a BMW dealership? This partnership was such a mess from the start.

Unfortunately we go to Toyota and they consult with BMW to try and figure out t he problem. A lot of dealerships have had issues with not having the oil filters even after appointments being scheduled weeks in advance. It’s a bad situation, but makes me happy I haven’t had any problems with mine.

I'm glad to hear yours has been no issues knock on wood because that sounds brutal to deal with for an oil change. I can't imagine what it'd be like for something more serious.

Luckily my dealership has been ok to deal with, aside from my last oil lasting 2 hours with an appointment. Most dealerships only have one certified tech to work on the Supras with BMW specialized tools. It’s definitely a headache that Toyota doesn’t disclose.
