Canadian *confirmed* pre-order status updates?

10962 Views 98 Replies 16 Participants Last post by  -Strike-
Figured I'd start this thread for those of us 🇨🇦 with confirmed pre-orders to commiserate over the timing of getting delivery of our Zs.

I've been periodically checking in with my GTA dealership to get a status update. I continue to do this despite the fact that I figured out that I probably know more than the dealer does about the Z :giggle:. I checked in with the dealership this week and was told that they still have no updates as to timing -- and that their computer system isn't showing any progress either in terms of my vehicle (no VIN yet). I've kind of resigned myself to the fact that the Z may not arrive until mid-late August. Let's just hope it isn't that much later than August.

Anyone else heard anything?

I got the exact same message as you did. But it's still totally silent from Nissan Canada. I will go to the Z-Fest and ask people there to see if there are any updates.
Theres some event happening at hq in ontario, hopefully there is some sort of clarity there. The gr supra 3.0 is loaded up on toyota and they have incoming units to dealers in late September/ October including the new MT at same cost. If this thing comes out before the Z just wow how fail of a company this is
On the FB forum, the Americans are saying that the Proto will go live in the US on Aug 9th (ie next week!). Only 240 Protos spread out across the USA to start. Yet, there's no sign of the Z's for Canada???

Facebook Z Forum
In Canada the pre-orders were at the end of January and the beginning of February. Unlike in the USA there doesn't seem to be pre-ordered Zs.
Got a bit of an update from my dealership. He said that the first batch of Canadian Z’s are expected to be at the port in Vancouver this month with deliveries in late August or September. The odd thing he said is that it isn’t clear whether that first batch will be spec orders or just a bunch of Protos. Meaning we could be following the US launch plan even with our pre- orders. 🤮🤮🤮. I take all this with a bit of a grain of salt since it seems kinda pointless that they did that whole pre-order thing in canada if this was their plan.

Will keep an eye out. Usually i get info on tne ports. But if it is true it might be small batches going foward. As in the proto thing i highly doubt canada is getting 240 units of protos. http://wtc-nmcc.com/pdf/sch_na.pdf

well looks like the builder is up in the usa site. canada must be really far behind. production for sport and performance on nissanusa quotes "2023 Z Performance shown. Late availability - Coming this Fall. Price is Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price excluding destination charge, tax, title, license and options. Dealer sets actual price."
Looks like Nissan Canada is getting their website ready for something (??) There are two Z's listed on the sports car page.... Maybe that second icon will be the Canadian builder?

I also ordered during the official dates in Canada. I ordered in January 2022, the same model as you. We should be among the first in Canada to receive the new Z. The other orders after the official orders are orders to come after all the other official pre-orders. Me, that's how I see it.

I really hope you're right. My dealer told me last week that they don't know if our pre-orders will arrive first or if Nissan is sending them Protos (just like the US). Presumably, if anyone pre-ordered a Proto at a particular dealership, the dealership would fill that as an order. But for those of us that didn't order the Proto, we may be stuck waiting (like the Americans) for the 2nd phase of the launch. Again, I really hope/pray that you're right -- because that was my logic too. But this launch seems to have been a bit of a *$(% (mess) so who knows.

We already seem to be behind the US in terms of the launch (even though our pre-order phase started before theirs). On the US forums, the Americans are going crazy over markups over MSRP and there were at least reports of Z's making it onto the US mainland. In Canada, we have radio silence 😢 ... I suspect we'll know more by the end of August. If my dealer is right, some Z's will be arriving in Vancouver shortly... and perhaps the makeup of those Z's will get leaked out. We'll know immediately (if they're all Protos) what approach Nissan Canada plans to take.

did you receive the first email from Nissan Canada + or - on February 22. If so, then we are waiting for the second email which will confirm that our Z is on the assembly line. While the USA will receive Zs for sale, we in Canada will receive pre-ordered Zs in January and early February with a $1000 deposit. All Z pre-orders for Canada sold out within a week. And in my opinion the other Z orders will arrive after all the official pre-orders of + or - 240 cars.

Yeah, I did get the confirmation email and I'm in the same pre-order group that you are too.

I'm just not convinced that we will see our cars before October. I say this because even if our cars were issued production VINs today, it would still take at least 6-8 weeks before the car would actually be manufactured, shipped to the port in Vancouver, and then shipped to our respective local Nissan dealership.

The only hope we have of getting our cars before the end of summer is if Nissan just never updated the pre-order buyers with VIN or production information and our cars just show up without further notice.

Clearly, no one really knows what's going to happen so I'm still trying to remain hopeful of getting my Z before the end of August.
Just to clarify, when you guys say "pre-order group" you are referring to those who ordered before the national reservation system opened up, in that ~ one week window the dealers had?

Yes, correct. There were a bunch of people that ordered directly from dealers before the main launch.

Probably taking them longer, because they have to omit all the cool features like Nav and 9" touch screens from their brochures and online interactive PDF's

Hey, at least we get block heaters instead.

Dude wtf? We don't get the nav either? I was okay with trading the screen for heated steering wheel but this is an utter bamboozle!

Talked to my dealer in the GTA today. I didn't reserve through the website but thru the dealer. The factory have yet to accept the order (reserved back in feb). Hes still in the dark and no new info regarding cars being shipped or delivered sadly. I might be waiting till next year to get it.

. . . .for heated steering wheel . . .
Are you sure Canadians are even getting this? I think I saw it listed on one spec sheet but when I went back to confirm I couldn't relocate it. I don't need Nav (I like not knowing where I'm going) but my arthritic hands love heated steering wheels.

Pre-orders in Canada were the last week of January at dealerships. And the first week of February at dealerships, and online on the Nissan Canada website

Heated steering wheel is on the performance model.

Well....I decided to send Nissan Canada a DM. This is what I got back. Looks like we Canadians are going to have to wait even longer than "summer". I get the sense that our Zs will follow the phase 2 US launch process. Meaning, Canada won't get any protos but our first Z's (ie the ones ordered in Jan/Feb) will arrive in the fall/winter just like the US is expecting to see the base/performance spec Zs arrive after the protos.

They should really give us Canadians a set of free winter tires for our troubles...
