Wow!! What a TREMENDOUS difference subtle changes can make!

My Favorite improvements:

1) Headlights

HATE the Z Proto headlights. They don't quite fit the shape of the car very well. They just look....off. Like they don't belong with the rest of the design. That round/ovaly shape just wasn't resonating with me. I also felt like the scalloped area preceding the headlight should be lengthened/reshaped, like in this concept render:

This custom render hits the mark MUCH better. Love the new shape of the headlights. Kind of an NSX-like shape:

Also the area in front of the headlight has been re-sculpted to taper to a point right at the top corner of the bumper opening. Gives it a very 240z-esque look.
Big improvement over those boring, dozey headlights in the Z Proto👍

2) The RECTANGLE

Re-shaped the front bumper opening to look MUCH nicer than just a plain old rectangle. What were Nissan designers thinking, lol?

3) The black area framing the taillights

It has been stretched vertically to be taller. This was one of my main gripes with the Z Proto. If you look at the rear of the Z Proto, you'll notice that there is an outline that extends down further than the black area framing the taillights. They should have continued the black area down further so that it occupies that WHOLE outline. But for whatever reason, the designers didn't.
Instead they just truncated this black area abruptly with a straight line. For this reason the taillight area always looked awkwardly narrow and disproportionately small to me.

In this custom render, the issue has been addressed by adding a carbon fiber panel to fill out the rest of the outline. BIG improvement 👍

4) Sleeker side mirrors

Side mirrors on the Z Proto are big and bulky looking.

The ones on this custom concept are much nicer👍

5) Removed Chrome 'Katana' trim above the side windows.

Looks MUCH better without that ugly chrome piece there.

The more I look at these renders, the more it appears that the wheelbase has been stretched out by the artist.

Yeah, I'm almost certain of it.

Its proportions are much more 240z for this reason.

Unlikely Nissan would stretch out the wheelbase to make it look better though. Shame, it will never have this long sleek appearance to it...

The FM platform it rides on ensures that it will be short and stubby like the 370z and the 350z that preceded it.

Would be nice though. More interior space, more cargo room. Maybe a 2+2 variant?

We can dream right 🤞

I wish I had the talent to draw up renders like that. Love the blue color (the existing 370Z blue is too dark for my tastes). Whoever drew this up definitely stretched the wheelbase. It is a true GT car like this. The drop is just too much. Something in between this and the Nissan reveal would be perfect. I was hoping Nissan would extend the wheelbase a little to provide more leg room. I'm not sure why they shortened the wheelbase when they went from the 350 to the 370. This render makes me think a 240Z, 300ZX, and a C7 Corvette had a threesome together, LOL.

BOTH terrific renders.

Think they would look cleaner and more elegant without the Y-shaped hood bulges though...

The 400z will not have a Straight-6 engine like the older Z's did. Nor will it have as long a hood. Dont think the hood bulge carrie's over well to the 400z's shorter, stubbier proportions...

Won't have a straight 6 until someone sticks a RB26 in it. I give it less then 3 months.😋

Thinking the same direction, hah! Mine is a torque monster in the 240Z.

BTW, that blue render is amazing, great added aggressiveness even though stretched a bit. Front clip and rear treatments look spot on. That would be a top choice blue, may even better than Daytona Blue, gives a more modern metallic look. Keep 'em coming, hope Nissan designers are lurking in this forum.

Really like the rear and front treatments on that, for that matter the integrated flares aren't too bad either. Great rendering, best so far IMO.
