A week or so back. I know a guy at one of the dealers, he told me to fill out that online thing. Didn’t mention anything about a deposit until after a test drive. I don’t think paying a deposit now makes any differenceHow long ago? That reservation system is supposed to put you in touch with a local dealer.
How are you looking to spec your Z @mapanp?Just put in two pre orders for the new Z from separate dealers, hope this gives me a better chance of getting one when released. Orders are fully refundable if the car and pricing is not what is expected. From what I have been told Australia will get about 800 cars for the first year allocation starting possibly in September, We will only get two specs the proto and the one the US calls the performance. The dealer estimates performance will be approx between $65-73K (AUD). Previous car was stock 2013 370Z which I just sold as I think there will be more 370z's on the market once the new Z is released.
You really can't go wrong with that combination. I think the blue is going to be one of the most popular colors. Not really sure yet, have to wait to see the car in real life, will probably keep it stock for a while, blue with black roof in 6 speed manual.
Hi I don't understand what paying a deposit gets you I have been to my local dealer a number of times and they have registered my interest as much in the system as they are able to. I keep asking about deposit that people are saying they are paying and they keep telling me there is no deposit they need me to pay that will get me any higher up the order other than what I already am. It is just a waiting game to see what actually finally happens. They ring there contacts in the city and Nissan and they keep getting the same answer.Just put in two pre orders for the new Z from separate dealers, hope this gives me a better chance of getting one when released. Welcome to the forum @Gary Bowering! Some dealerships use deposits as a way to make sure people are serious about ordering a car when they sign up. It doesn't get you any more closer to the Z than what you're getting with your dealer.Hi I don't understand what paying a deposit gets you I have been to my local dealer a number of times and they have registered my interest as much in the system as they are able to. Welcome to the forum. Did they say when you'll get a VIN?I've also put down a $1k refundable deposit. Initially (before I put down the deposit) he said they had 30 preorders but when I actually paid and said first preference is for a manual proto spec he said there were 2 ahead of me in the queue. He also said they're expecting them in July which is highly unlikely. This was Liverpool Nissan. I know I probably have no chance of getting a proto but if I can jag a normal spec in yellow I'll be happy.
These are the exact questions that have been running through my head. I would have though the proto spec would be the most popular pre-order option so I'd say the 30 number he threw out there was probably inflated.Welcome, @cainen! Did you get the sense that the 30 preorders number the dealer told you about was a lie to hurry up your decision, or do you think 28 of them were just not for Proto spec and so you got to leap frog them?
Either way, congrats on the deposit!
Thank you - no indication. They sent me a contract for a 370z then in the special instructions field said it was for a pre-ordered "400 Z" proto spec. They also kept calling it a 400 Z over the phone. I really don't think they have any idea about anything!Welcome to the forum. Did they say when you'll get a VIN?
Nissan Australia published online months ago that the allocation for Proto trim was exhausted. Nissan has never referred to any car as a 400Z. Too many red flags here, I'd be using a more reputable dealer.Thank you - no indication. I put carsalesmen and real estate agents in the same basket - useless. I've purchased a few new cars and in all cases the dealers know hardly anything. I always know way more about the cars than they do.Nissan Australia published online months ago that the allocation for Proto trim was exhausted. Nissan has never referred to any car as a 400Z. Keep us posted on any updates you get. It can vary from market to market, although I doubt Aussies would be ahead of the pack, but you never really know. Did you dealer disclose any details on the models that were pre-ordered?These are the exact questions that have been running through my head. In Aus we only get the performance and proto models. What the dealer said indicated they'd received 27 preorders for the performance and 3 for the proto but I'm pretty sure he's full of shit.Keep us posted on any updates you get.
