My main concern is paying over MSRP and was wondering what tips and tricks everyone has for saving money when purchasing a new car? Prices are up a lot currently due to supply shortages. It might impact the Z but a bigger concern will be ADM and other things dealers try to get us paying for.

The problem with any in-demand, just introduced car model (that may also be in short supply), is that while all prospective buyers don't want to pay more than retail, some of the prospective buyers will. That's all that it takes and results in the price going up; simple supply/demand and resulting cost curve.
Think of it as bitcoin or a meme stock: I'm sure everyone wants to buy it low, but if demand is there - one person purchases it just a little higher, then the next; where the price ends up is always going to be a surprise.

Yeah there's always that one person that gives a dealer a blank cheque and all of a sudden it's ruined for all of us.

I want to also ask about this. I'm sure I'm not the only one that spending an entire day at the dealership isn't fun when buying a car.
So this time around, I plan on not doing so and start talking to dealers over the phone. I picked up this method from here(starts at 4min 30 sec) :
My questions are: Has anyone done the same? If so, did you make a firm offer, and did it work in your favor? Any other tips or strategies that not only allows one to get a fair deal but not have to get stuck at a dealership with getting into a long winded negotiating tug of war?

I've never tried Carvana or any other service like that before. Is it as straightforward as they claim it is?
I've never used them. CARVANA seems to have pioneered the concept, they have a trial period on the car after you receive it, and they offer financing.
The downside? No negotiations on price.

That makes sense, the trail period is pretty sweet I'm not going to lie.
I've noticed (at least in my area) that more dealers are trying to copy the same thing of "no negotiations, this is as low as we can already go" kind of tactics.

My boss and his son have bought several cars through Carvana. They like the experience. My stepson and I have both purchased cars through Carmax. Easy process and they can offer a range of financing options. I would go through them again the next time I'm in the market for a used car.
With both, there's no haggle pricing. Carvana will deliver the car to you. I don't know if Carmax offers that service yet.

It looks like Carmax does offer home delivery for cars. But if you read the fine print it says "CarMax delivery is available within a 60-mile radius of select stores. Not available to customers in all states. Please contact your nearest store for details. Applicable store-to-store shipping fees are due in advance of vehicle delivery and are separate from sales transactions."
