Mazda has filed a patent in the U.S. for a new engine technology that appears to meld its existing compression-ignition Skyactiv-X tech with a supercharger... and the whole thing is two-stroke?
That last part really confuses me. Bolt a supercharger to a Skyactiv-X engine and add some patented new intake and exhaust trickery to make that work smoothly, but two-stroke?
Mazda has a sort of a history with two-stroke in that a rotary is debatably sort-of a two-stroke, but this is very much a piston engine. Any thoughts on what they're up to here?
