Since the abstract did say "one or more ducts" I wonder if them showing a dash with so many holes was a way to keep the final idea open to a wide range of possibilities, and to sort of hide in plain sight what it would actually be? In execution I think less than 10% of these holes would actually exist and won't be so obvious.

I thought of that and figured it might have something to do with better heating and cooling in the car with airflow. But who knows haha.
