Nissan trademarked "Fairlady Z" with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on July 11, 2021.
Pretty wild. Agreed with MC above, I see it as a package or some option to that effect. Though, it would be pretty cool if in the alternative they just end up calling the new Z the Fairlady Z. Thanks for the share zenki.
Exactly, this is unlikely to relate to the vehicle's badging. But it could signal that Nissan is finally going to openly acknowledge this particular heritage in the US market, which in itself is very encouraging. It looks like 'Fairlady Z' will be used on lifestyle accessories, judging from the only classification the name falls under in the USPTO filing: "14 - Tie tacks, cuff links, lapel pins, watches, clocks, wall clocks, key rings of precious metal, ornamental badges of precious metal"
Why would they make the merchandise and name the car something else?@MCN1SMO is right.

same reason they already offer the fairlady badge as an official part you can buy from your dealer as an aftermarket accessory. the copyright could be just for marketing purposes to expand the offerings since its was prominently displayed on the Proto which as already been marketed outside of Japan. The whole vibe of the new Z is pulling from different aspects of the cars heritage. so makes sense to push the fairlady even if its limited to keychains floormats or an badges ect at the very least. If its more than that and an add on appearance package then even better. Why would they make the merchandise and name the car something else?
When did that happen? Only at dealers or can I find it online? This is the start of something deliciousGood find @zenki
I bought the OEM emblem already, regardless, will be on my new Z!

Not to confuse anybody, one I bought was specific to the S30 series as it was on the 240Z.When did that happen? Only at dealers or can I find it online?
I feel the same. I believe most enthusiast in the US would embrace Fairlady Z contrary to what was believed by Nissan of Japan and Mr K decades ago.I’m sure this is an unpopular opinion but I’d prefer it to be called Fairlady Z rather then just “Z” like some rumors have stated. Then again I’m not sure how I’d feel about 400z either….
100% with you on both points. I love that badge and hope to get one if/when they become available. The only question becomes placement - if the spoilers are standard, then we'd have to find a new spot (which would naturally be individual rather than sort of uniform) for it. I, too, wonder if the spoiler is a) standard on all cars, and b) necessary or if Nissan just made the judgement call that it looked better.I love the badge on the proto and hope it's an option but I doubt it. I would also prefer the rear to have no lip spoiler, but all the spy shots we've seen seem to have it (maybe it's needed for aero stability?).
