Yep new Frontier is a great truck, muscular design! That should be the basis for the Xterra, I’d gladly upgrade mine.

Slightly off-topic for the Z Proto at C&C... but since the Frontier and idea of Xterra came up... would love to see Nissan revive the Xterra with a nod to the old hardbody-generation Pathfinder 2-door.

Then, drop the VR30DDTT engine and an ATTESSA AWD drivetrain in it... and make a 21st century alternative to the old GMC Typhoon, (and the Frontier street truck version as the Syclone alternative)

Now back to the regularly scheduled Z-Proto and C&C content. 🙂

Yep slightly off-topic but those Hardbody trucks are so clean in design, understated muscular.

I'm up for upgrading my Xterra, almost 160K miles still a great rig for the rough stuff! What happens when my trail buds run Jeeps.

I see this as a positive sign. Previously, Nissan treated the Z Proto with velvet gloves, keeping it close to the trailer it was brought in with.
Now, Nissan is allowing it to ply the public streets, sans trailer. Maybe they are so far along with Z35 testing/development they don't feel it is so important to protect the Proto?

Oh, and yes to the idea of reviving the old body-on-frame Pathy/Xterra with the VR30.

I used to have a 2002 QX4 with the VQ35 and ATTESA AWD/4WD system and I loved it. More than once I have contemplated getting another one (they are cheap now) and swapping a VQ37 with forced induction into it. Loved the ATTESA in that SUV.

If anybody has good leads on any future Cars and Coffee showings, esp west coast, post it. Made me join a few local IG groups just to be informed LOL. I wonder how many protos are out there fully functional?

I saw a video today... the Nashville cars and coffee was pretty much across the street from the Nissan US HQ... probably why it was so readily available, and without a trailer... they pulled it outside to show it off.

They also explained the button on the B-pillar... as only a prototype specific door popper, not intended for production.
Also wouldn't open the rear hatch or the hood... but did say that more details are coming soon.

Precisely as I thought - this explains why the door handle seemed immobile in the videos of the Proto but appeared to have a conventional hinge motion in the leaked videos of pre-production Zs.

I didn't think the b-pillar button would stay around, but confirmation its just for the proto is nice so thank you for sharing. I'm sure the hatch area wont look too different from the existing space in the Z34. As for popping the hood, we all know what is suspected to there but don't know for sure yet. Hopefully Nissan will release more information really soon.

I saw the footage on your YT channel and love it. Todate it is the best rolling footage of the proto so really appreciate you filming it,
