Yeah I'm not surprised, especially with the platform being carried over from the Z34.
Fortunately it's still a unique enough Nissan.

That shifter was first previewed in the new 9AT Pathfinder, the Infiniti came later.
Seems to be the corporate shifter they are going with.

we got that similar style one in our 2021 Rogue. it works pretty good. only thing i had to get used to is it only goes in reverse when the thumb button is pressed in. also wont go into drive with the door ajar

The transmission is a Mercedes design, the 9G-Tronic, that is manufactured by JATCO (Nissan) as the JR913E. So, yes, it is technically an MB trans but it's being produced in Japan.

Same in my wife's 2021 Rogue. Every so often I still put the thing in reverse thinking I'm shifting into park. I don't drive it enough to get used to pushing a button to go into park.
