StevewithaZ on YouTube posted an interview he did with our very own @DAN_PASSE about the Z. It was a much longer interview than I expected and they cover a lot of ground about the car. Definitely worth the watch.
The amount of ads and photos people have taken of dealers calling the Z a 400Z is too high. I hope Nissan takes more control with ordering so we can limit dealing with dealers as much as possible. Let me spec out my car online and be done with it.I loved the video and I appreciate Dans transparency. I’m sure it’s not easy dealing with some of these Z guys and there demands. One thing Im not sure about though is his advice to visit local dealers for information about ordering and pre ordering. I can say that unless it’s just ones local to my area, so far the dealers are largely clueless, haven’t been given or aren’t giving any information about it out. Just today I stopped by my nearest dealer on my way home and the manager keep referring to the car as “400z” and said it won’t be available until atleast 2023 which was either a lie to get me disinterested, he didn’t have anything factual to say or just incompetence, but seeing as he’s still referring to it as a 400z I’m betting on incompetence. I’m very worried that this is going to be a bad experience based on the dealers being so uninformed, tight lipped, stupid or greedy. The Proto spec situation is also very concerning as I fear if there are no form of pre orders, they’ll just ship them over and it will be a giant invitation for these slimy guys to mark it up to the high heavens on the grounds of “rarity”. I wish I could cut dealers out of the process, it’s almost turning me off the car entirely.
It's pretty embarrassing. I had been biting my tongue (largely because I am not on this planet to create static) but I had to call someone out the other day for still confidently referring to the car as "400Z." It has a name. An official one. It's pretty easy to remember, as luck would have it.The amount of ads and photos people have taken of dealers calling the Z a 400Z is too high.
