Paint To Sample Program

How amazing would it be if NIssan decided to offer a custom paint program like Porsche's Paint To Sample for the R36 and new Z?

As the new Z and R36 will likely be the last ICE-powered versions of both cars, if not the last iterations ever, why not go out with a bang? I know I would be willing to pay up to $10k for a custom color on the new Z - might sound crazy, but it's worth it to me.

What do we think?

I'd do anything to get the new Z in a midnight purple like off of the skyline. Then put gold wheels on it

This mellow yellow would look amazing on the new Z!

Or, this gorgeous sky blue:

Or, Cadillac's Electric Blue, which is very similar to Porsche's Mexico Blue:

Infiniti's Liquid Platinum would also be phenomenal

I am still looking forward to Sunset Drift orange, with body color roof rails and rear hatch... and either a glass roof, or a black roof center panel only, not the whole roof.

I think this could do wonders for Nissan, especially as they're trying to reshape their image as a brand. I'd love to see more colors like the 240Z's red back on the road.

I think a really premium Infiniti paint job as an option would be great.

Do you remember when Acura offered the NSX paint on the TLX.

For a higher end car, custom colors work out well. Those types of cars don't really depreciate. For a car like the Z, it will be neat for the first owner, but if you paint it something crazy, it will make it hard to sell later (I know everyone says they'll keep the car forever...but how many vehicle listings say "Don't want to, but I'm selling my baby"). Plus, it's going to be super rare for a paint color to add value to a car.

What would be an acceptable option price? You'd realistically be looking at a high 4 figure to 5 figure price for custom paint, as the car has to be pulled off the production line, and painted separately from the other cars.

Bottom line; you want a custom color? Get a wrap. You protect the paint, and you get the color that sets you apart from the crowd.
