The New Nissan Z Dimensions

3728 Views 15 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  THaskins
Autocar has reported that the new Nissan Z will be a twin of the next Infiniti Q60, which gives us an idea for how big it will be.

The Q60 measures at about 4520mm long (178 inches), 1890mm wide (74.4 inches) and 1240mm tall (48.8 inches).

Also Autocar mentioned that the new Z car "will be slightly larger than the 370Z".

I've sat in the 370Z before and the added size will be greatly appreciated for me. But overall I hope they don't make it too massive.

I really really hope and expect that clickbait "reporting" is wrong, that would make the new Z 7" longer than a C7 ffs. No way.

If it's true, it would weigh at least 300 lbs more than the 370. I'd be out for sure.
I saw an article that listed the dimensions of the Z Proto and they where not the same as the Q60 (or 370). I‘ll post a link if I can remember where I saw it.

I just checked my car comparison spreadsheet, from earlier reporting it should be 172" l X 72" w. Still too big but tolerable.
from an article in Automobile magazine. Z Proto dimensions…….

So basically longer and about the same width and height as the 370Z.
Here are the dimensions from Nissan's press release of the Z Proto. I imagine the production model won't be too far off from these.

Z Proto specifications
Length4,382 mm (172.5 inches)
Width1,850 mm (72.8 inches)
Height1,310 mm (51.5 inches)

Confusion here....

I thought some people already took a tape measure to the Z Proto and it had the EXACT same wheelbase as a 370Z?

When you hear "the new Z will be slightly bigger" they mean the front and rear overhang are slightly longer, due to restyling of the exterior body shell. The interior dimensions and track dimensions are basically exactly the same.

The new Z is just a refreshed 370Z....don't expect anything drastically changed aside from appearance and power from the new TT V6.

And I'd be SHOCKED if there's a "New Q60" more likely we'll see a restyled Q60 with a mandatory 9AT in place of the old 7AT. And hopefully they ditch DAS.
Yeah the Q60 and Z won’t be that similar. Remember. The q60 has rear seats and is a coupe. Not a hatchback. My q60 seemed as big as my q50. And the Q50 has 4 doors

I am pretty sure the coupe and sedan share the same wheelbase. The main reasons the coupe feels smaller:

-slope of rear window is intrusive on back seat passengers (however legroom is same as sedan)

-trunk is tiny compared to sedan due to the unique exhaust layout of the coupes (and this applies to the Z) the coupes use a large, transverse muffler directly under the trunk floor, and sedans have smaller, individual mufflers on each side of the spare tire well, along with slightly longer rear overhang.

The 50 and 60 are identical mufflers.
I see what you are saying tho

That's weird, did Nissan/Infiniti change the sedan muffler layout when the G37 was replaced? I know on the G37 sedan it's 2 normal mufflers on either side of the spare tire well.
Is the trunk in a Q50 small?
If I remember correctly. My 09 G37S. Had the same muffler as my 08Z33. The q50 truck is bigger than the Q60s. The Q60 reminds me of the R35
You can absolutely see in the shots of the proto that it's the 370z. Just look at behind the seats and the trunk. They are identical to that of the 370z. Same goes for the doors. If the dimensions change at all it will be because of the body work. Frontend overhang and things like that.
These are the Z dimensions that are on Nissan's Japanese website.
