Someone in a Subaru WRX STI got gapped by a 2023 Nissan Z prototype while racing it on a highway. This is the second time we've seen a new Nissan Z in prototype randomly racing another WRX STI. Previously it was a Z in Brilliant Silver, this time it's one in Everest White Pearl.

Sounds good. I'll have to hear one in person. Not saying its an issue, but the audio quality on these videos aren't all that great.

FWIW, Nissan produced a video where it sounds similar to the above. So that's very positive already. I'm dying to hear it at idle and within the lower RPM range where most of us daily driving one will here it often. Hard to go WOT on local roads.

That white smoke has me thinking the revs were done on a cold start. A properly warmed up Z revving should sound a bit better. Too bad they didn't let it warm up.

Got to love how it sounds in this latest example where we to hear it from inside the cabin.
Oh and the STI is officially dead, at least when it comes to an ICE version based on the current generation WRX. But Subaru will return with an all-electric version for the next-gen model.

Subaru made an official announcement regarding the STI version of the WRX, saying it won't be built on the current platform.
