I will be starting out with some basic first mods to improve performance like a short throw shifter, lighter wheels with some more track friendly tires, and lowering springs or coils. Those should open up the Z even more.

I have a nice set of wheels on my current Q60 I'd like to swap over to the Z, definitely going with a catback (Q60 also has one) and I would love to get louvers for the rear hatch window.

Also, hoping that with the new infotainment unit Nissan keeps their current easy to mod stereo system so I can upgrade a bit. I like how Nissan upmarket stereos have separate amps fed with clean signals. Hopefully they continue that with the new Z.

A "TWIN TURBO" decal like the Z32 has on the rear light panel.

Down the road, I'd like downpipes and a moderate tune. Maybe.... may just leave that alone too, I think 400HP should be enough.

Would like to put watanabe wheels on, but not sure if they’ll make the wheels big enough. Exhaust is a must, hoping for a single exit eventually. Fairlady Z badging will probably happen. Aside from that I’ll have to see how the car drives to begin with before deciding on mods.

If you are planning on modifying your Z, Are there any specific mods you plan on adding once you get your hands on it?

For exterior mods I've been looking at getting a new set of wheels and tires. Performance-wise I think I'm going to wait a bit until other people start tinkering with their Zs.
"Weight savings" is one of the best mods. Every pound you can get rid of ... mats, trunk liner, under the hood - drain 90% of the washer fluid, replace the battery with a lightweight one. Anyone else have some additions without ripping out speakers and such?

Side marker deletes (needs those bad), shifter, wheels and tires, intakes, BOVs, and a larger intercooler. We'll take it from there. Suspension mods, half cage, and Pure turbos will likely follow.

Edit: And downpipes with GT Haus exhaust. The Musa is the best I've heard for the Q50/60.

I'm not so sure we can replace those top mount intercoolers yet. (I could be wrong)

So far, the Q cars have upgrades for pump, resevoir, and front mount heat exchanger.

Personally, I haven't seen the intake intercoolers offered in a larger version yet.
Dropbear LLC is coming out with upgraded top mount intercoolers w/ integrated BOVs. Of course you can rip out the a2w system all together and replace it with a completely custom a2a setup. Hexa motorsports on instagram is working on an a2a setup VR30 swap 370z.

Yup, I was referring to Dropbear's work in progress. Dropbear is working on a lot of interesting stuff for the VR30. Surely, as the VR30 becomes more widespread with the introduction of the new Z into the market, I'm sure we'll see new setups - likely also include large front mount conversions.

A closed deck/reinforced block is what interests me most - saw that circulating the web, but can't remember if it's from Dropbear. In any event, AMS will probably develop a closed deck solution.

And sorry, I didn't answer the question RE side markers. I just don't like how they break up the clean lines of the new Z. It's a relatively cheap mod, so I figured why not?

Is the VR30 capable of keeping itself cool with the stock intercoolers? How long do you think it can hold up on an autox, or a track day? Do you think the front mounts are that paramount?

Yeah Dropbear offers a closed deck conversion and a dry sleeve conversion for the VR30 block. They had it up on their facebook marketplace but it disappeared for some reason. They only have their methanol plate/port injection conversion listed as of right now. Might be that you have to call in to order it? I know they're trying to get their website up and running so they might've taken it off cause of that. They're also working on cams, injectors, billet fuel rails, and soon to be released turbo kits that can punch out upwards of 1000 hp.

Not according to Infiniti Q owners. Those cars can heat soak just from playing around on the streets.

However, the Z is several hundred pounds lighter, and it's possible the Z or a forthcoming Nismo version may have revised cooling to prevent the heat soak the Q guys are experiencing.

The A2W heat exchanger setup isn't ideal.
For reference, Stillen offers A2W intercooling on their VQ supercharging kit, very similar in layout to the stock VR30 intercooling. However, the biggest upgrade to the Stillen kit is to convert to A2A intercooling. The Stillen A2W kit heat soaked really bad.

If I end up buying it, yes I do plan on reusing as much as I can from my Q.

Its hard to say what's going to be the first essential mod, but if I buy it, I'm most likely going to get a full catted downpipes, CBE and a tune. Depending on what wheels and brakes it comes with it, might get better ones.
