Turns out the markups aren’t just for the Proto Spec with the reason being only 240 were made for US.

Found a blue/blue automatic Performance on Cars.com @ Kerry Nissan in Florence, KY and salesman called me and told me out of the gate there’s a $30k markup stating “it’s a Performance and the only one I’m getting.”

I thought it was just the Proto Specs getting the price jacked ($30k on avg based on the 20+ dealers I’ve talked to personally). Didn’t expect it for non Protos! 😳🤦🏾‍♂️

That's wild. Have you checked with any other dealerships?
What Z spec are you after?

Hello Everyone! My name is Stephen Tevis and I am the General Manager at the dealership in question! The information that was sent via text was incorrect, the info got trickled down to our internet manager thru a couple of different people thus the info being wrong. Nevertheless, we are NOT marking 'our' Z up $50K!! It was a discussion that I personally had with a few other Nissan dealers and the $50K number came up in that conversation. We have never marked a car up that much and just wouldn't. We have been in business for almost 50 years and gouging our customers is not how we achieved longevity. The Z is an incredible car and we are looking for to seeing it as I'm sure you all are, there are only 11 coming to our region which includes over 230 dealers. We are proud of the heritage of the Z but not so proud that we will bend our morals to sell it. I hope that this clears up any confusion, I am always available to give accurate and timely information, james.tevis@jeffwyler.com. Thank you for your time.

Respectfully,
J. Stephen Tevis
General Manager
Your dealership did end up marking it up $30K like everyone else.

The dealer wanting $130k lashed out and said:
Why should this car have no mark-up? Do the shoes you wear have markup built into the pricing? Is the food you order and eat marked up or do you have the luxury of purchasing everything at wholesale? At some point the argument of what the car is worth boils down to what someone is willing to pay for it. Porsche, Hummer, Ford Lightening, Ferrari, Toyota Supra and so on have all been offered with markets at some point in time and guess what, the vehicles still sold with no harm or foul to you. If you want a Q60 go buy a Q60. You joined the Z Group page hopefully to celebrate the enjoyment of Z’s as an enthusiast, not as a market analyst whose sole purpose is to shit on those responsible for retailing the vehicles. If you want a Z call me and we can discuss the pricing of a Sport model but you have made it clear the Proto is out of your budget which is fine. Thank you.”

I would tell him most people pay retail for certain things, but few pay more than twice retail for anything. Then I would tell him to F off. 😆

Well in a recession worst than we have seen for decades, gas prices and so much uncertainty in the real estate and stock market spending 50k over for a new Z is a less than intelligent move unless there is some major write off or profit with this like a Vendor or something to MAKE money with it.

When the people who bought this lose their job and they try to sell they'll lose 60k plus... even my dumbass 21 year old self from 20 years ago wouldn't have done this even if I had 100k to blow at that time.

fmr. Ford CEO said the slowdown will cool those prices down.
